Last Saturday, Kentucky was handed its second loss of the season at Tennessee. Kentucky was off to a bad start right out of the gate when Tennessee went on an 18-0 run to put them ahead 18-4 in the first ten minutes. From there John Wall was not shooting very well besides the spin around bank shot. At the half Kentucky trailed by double digits for the first time the whole season. In the second half the Cats put more pressure on the Vols and John Wall began to make amazing lay-ups to get them on a run also with the help of Darius Miller. After that the Cats went on a 19-0 run to tie the game giving about three easy layups for DeMarcus Cousins to tie the game at 65. From there Tennessees Scotty Hopson drilled a three to put the Vols at 70-65 and taking them on a 9-0 run the last two minutes. Final score 74-65. I think we could have won this game in many ways even if we were down by double digits at the end of the first half. First off UK does not have a solid three point shooter. The Cats went 2-22 outside the arc. For us to win games in the NCAA we have to start shooting at least 18-20% from three point range. Second off we might have won if we would have played zone defense instead of man to man defense. If we would have played zone we might have been able to put pressure on Scotty Hopson and he might have missed the three to put the nail in the coffin. Calipari after the game said were going to practice shooting day in and day out to prevent another game with less than ten percent three point range and less than 30% feild goal percentage. I think well get our act together before a big game at Georgia whom gave us a run at Rupp. Then its our last regular season game against Florida at Rupp. Chandler Parsons of Florida has been on a hotstreak lately getting 29 points at Georgia so well have to watch him.

Start of a new era!!!

We all know that Coach Calipari (head basketball coach of UK) is the highest paid coach in the NCAA today, but what is it that really makes him the highest paid coach in college basketball? My opinion is his ability to take players to the NBA level especially guards such as Derek Rose of the Chicago Bulls and our very own John Wall, who is predicted to be the first round pick in the 2010 NBA draft. Another great reason is that before UK hired him John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, Eric Bledsoe, and John Hood were all committed to Memphis. Instead of going there they faithfully followed this legendary coach all the way to Lexington. Hint, hint, Calipari used to be an NBA coach so I'm guessing these players are the sheep and they see him as the shepard. Prior to this already successful Wildcat season, Calipari already brought two different schools to a number one spot. Memphis on more than one occasion. It also helps too when DeMarcus Cousins is widely predicted to be the number two first round pick in next years NBA draft. This has never happened for the first two picks in the NBA draft to have been on the same college team in the same class. I think Calipari is here to stay. Not to mention that many news sources have quoted Calipari for coaching at UK to be his "dream job".
